Progress with little Bert

I'm always on the lookout for more Bedford Rascal vans in particular - see here.

Bert - E145 GVW

After much tinkering around with the little van I finally managed to get it to start much easier although it still takes two or three goes to get it to fire up - I put this down to the lack of driving it. It's stored in a new little container in a secure location and I rarely get time to go and start it. I'm glad to be able to keep it out of the rain and snow - it sat outside for a few weeks after I got it and even in that short period of time was long enough for rust to get a grip and try to develop in certain areas which will now have to be addressed.

And yes, I have named him Bert. The other dark blue van has been christened Ernie so the pair together can be Bert & Ernie.

Progress:

• Painting the wheels - Powder coated instead!
• Refurbishing the rear axle - including replacing the rear wheel bearings
• Repainting & tidying up underneath the van
• Repairing the front wheelarches and shock towers

25/06/10 - Waringstown Vintage Rally

Bert was out at his first ever vintage rally on the 25th of June 2010 - the Waringstown Vintage Cavalcade for Kidney Research. He really enjoyed the evening even though the little Metro Police car beside him (also my car) stole the show and more people took photos of it than him! The bright white wheels really set the van off.
